How to use the grid view to organize your work
The grid view gives you a visual bird’s-eye view of your store’s inventory. Instead of scrolling through a long list of text, you can see your products as cards with images. This makes it much easier to spot missing photos, check for consistent branding, and manage your catalog visually.
Setting up your grid view
Follow these steps to switch your product management layout:
- Log in to your WooShop dashboard and click on Products in the left-hand menu.
- Locate the view toggle at the top right of your product list. You will see two icons: one for "List" and one for "Grid."
- Click the Grid icon. Your product list will transform into a layout of square cards.
- Adjust your screen options. If you want to see more or fewer products at once, click the Screen Options tab at the very top of your page. Change the number of items per page and click Apply.
- Use filters. You can still use the dropdown menus at the top to filter by category or stock status while in grid view.
When to use the grid view
Grid view is particularly helpful for visual tasks rather than data entry. Here are a few ways to use it:
- Checking Product Images: If you have just uploaded a new collection, use the grid view to quickly see if any images are blurry, cropped poorly, or missing entirely.
- Organizing a Restaurant Menu: Restaurant owners can use this view to ensure all food items have appetizing photos and consistent backgrounds before the menu goes live.
- Managing Seasonal Sales: Switch to grid view and filter by "On Sale" to see how your discounted items will look to customers on your storefront.
- Inventory Audits: It is often faster to find a specific item by its photo than by its SKU or title when you are moving quickly.
Troubleshooting common issues
The grid view is slow to load
If you have a large catalog and set your "Screen Options" to show 100+ products at once, your browser might lag. Try reducing the number to 20 or 40 items per page for better performance.
Images are missing in the grid
If you see a placeholder icon instead of a photo, the "Featured Image" has not been set for that product. Click the product title to edit it and upload an image in the right-hand sidebar.
I don’t see the grid toggle
Some custom user roles may have restricted view permissions. Ensure you are logged in as a Store Manager or Administrator. If it’s still missing, check if a browser extension is blocking the layout script.
