How to create an image gallery

An image gallery allows you to display multiple photos in an organized grid or carousel rather than a single long list. This keeps your pages clean while giving customers a full view of your products, services, or location.

How to add a gallery to your site

WooShop uses the block editor, making it easy to drag and drop images into place.

  1. Open your page or post: Navigate to the page where you want the gallery and click Edit.
  2. Add the Gallery block: Click the (+) icon and search for "Gallery." For more styling options like masonry or carousels, look for the Advanced Gallery block provided by Kadence.
  3. Select your images: Click Media Library to choose photos you’ve already uploaded, or click Upload to add new ones from your computer.
  4. Organize the layout: Once the images appear, use the settings panel on the right to choose the number of columns. You can also drag and drop images to change their order.
  5. Adjust the spacing: In the block settings, you can add "Gutter" or "Gap" space between photos to give them room to breathe.
  6. Link your images: If you want customers to see a larger version of a photo when they click it, set the Link to option to Media File.
  7. Publish: Click Update or Publish at the top right to make your gallery live.

Practical uses for your shop

  • Restaurant Menus: Group photos of your appetizers, mains, and desserts so diners know exactly what to expect.
  • Product Variations: If you sell a handmade item, use a gallery to show it from every angle or in different lighting.
  • Portfolio or Results: If you provide a service (like landscaping or interior design), a gallery works well for "Before and After" shots.
  • Event Highlights: Show off your physical store location or a recent pop-up market appearance.

Troubleshooting common issues

Images look blurry or pixelated
This usually happens if the "Image Size" in the settings panel is set to "Thumbnail." Change this to "Large" or "Full Size" to sharpen the quality.

The gallery loads slowly
If your images are very large (over 1MB each), they will slow down your page. Try to resize your photos to under 200KB before uploading them to keep your site fast.

Images are different heights
If your photos aren’t cropped to the same aspect ratio, the grid might look uneven. You can toggle the Crop Images setting in the Gallery block to force them into uniform squares.

Images aren’t in the right order
You don’t need to delete the gallery to fix this. Click on an individual image within the gallery block and use the left/right arrows to move it to the correct spot.

Quick Recap

Galleries are the best way to group visual information without overwhelming your visitors. Use the Kadence Advanced Gallery block for the most layout flexibility, and always check your image sizes to keep your site running smoothly.
