Generate SEO-friendly product descriptions
Good product descriptions help your shop show up in search results and tell your customers exactly what they’re getting. Instead of writing every word from scratch, you can use the built-in generator to create unique, readable descriptions for your items in seconds.
How to generate a description
- Open your product: From your WooShop dashboard, go to Products > All Products and click on the item you want to edit.
- Locate the generator: Look for the Generate with AI button (usually found near the Product Description or Short Description text boxes).
- Input your details: Enter a few basic details about your product. Include the material, color, size, or any specific benefits (e.g., "handmade ceramic mug, dishwasher safe, 12oz").
- Choose your tone: Select a style that matches your brand, such as "Professional," "Friendly," or "Descriptive."
- Generate and review: Click the generate button. Once the text appears, read through it to ensure it accurately describes your product.
- Insert and Save: Click Use Text to add it to your product page. Scroll down or to the side and click the blue Update button to save your changes.
Practical examples
- Selling Apparel: If you sell a "Navy Blue Cotton Hoodie," don’t just list the name. Input "heavyweight cotton, fleece-lined, unisex fit, navy blue." The generator will turn those specs into a paragraph about comfort and durability.
- Selling Food or Coffee: If you have a "Dark Roast Espresso," input "bold flavor, notes of chocolate, ethically sourced." This helps customers imagine the taste while including keywords like "ethically sourced" for search engines.
- Selling Home Goods: For a "Soy Wax Candle," input "hand-poured, 40-hour burn time, lavender scent." The result will emphasize the relaxing atmosphere the candle creates.
Troubleshooting common issues
The description feels too generic
The generator works best when you provide specific details. If the result is too vague, go back and add more details about the materials, dimensions, or how the product is used.
Technical specs are missing
Sometimes the generator focuses on "flowery" language and misses the hard facts. Always double-check that important measurements, shipping weights, or ingredients are still included in the final text.
Formatting looks messy
When you insert the generated text, it might come in as one large block. Use the editor toolbar to add bullet points for features and bold text for important headers to make it easier for customers to scan.
Quick recap
Writing for SEO is about balancing keywords with helpful information. By providing the generator with specific product details, you can create descriptions that satisfy both Google and your customers.
